E. E. George rites Tuesday at Manchester
Manchester – Funeral services for private Earl E George will be conducted at 9:30 AM Tuesday in the local Methodist church with the Rev. McDonald assisted by the Rev. Franklin George officiating. Burial will be in the Manchester I00F Cemetery. Full military graveside services will be conducted. The Thomas funeral home, Wakita, is in charge of arrangements.
Private George, 23, a native of Manchester, was one of three killed July 14 in a helicopter crash in Alaska. He entered the service November 3, 1954 and was in Alaska with the 537th Engineer Company doing survey work around the Arctic Circle. Earl was graduated from the Manchester high school with the class of 1950 and was graduated from the Northwestern Teachers College in Alva in May 1954.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Audra George, Manchester; five sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Meidel, St. Joseph, Missouri, Mrs. Nadine Foltz, Great Bend, Kansas, Mrs. Aline Gideon, Manchester, Donna Fay and Judy, both of the home; two brothers, Charles Ray and Wayne, both of the home; the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Seeley and Mrs. E. R. George, all of Manchester.
