Lamont Cemetery


The funeral for Stanley Schuelein, 72, of Lamont, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Garber. Pastor Joe Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Lamont Cemetery . Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek.

He was born March 6, 1937, in Hillsdale to Herman and Doris Schuelein and died Saturday, July 4, 2009, in Houston.

He was a 1955 graduate of Lamont High School and attended Oklahoma State University.

He married Vicki Cowen May 25, 1958. He served with the Reserve National Guard from 1958 to 1964. In 1965, they went into partnership to operate the Pepermint Pad in Pond Creek. He also took over full operation of the family farm in 1966. They sold the Pad in 1969, and he worked two winters on an oil rig and entered into partnership for the summers harvest. He served on the Deer Creek-Lamont School Board for 10 years. In 1977, Cowen and Schuelein Dozer Service began operations doing farm and oil patch work until 1992. In 1994, he went to work for Jerry Schaffer as road foreman for District 2, working there for 13 years before retiring in 2007, at age 70. He returned to the farm, raising cattled and tending the land. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Garber, where he served as finance board chairman and sang in the choir.

Surviving are his wife, Vicki; two children, Kirk Schuelein of Lamont, and Kris Grimes of Pond Creek; one sister, Jaunita Hagen of Whitehouse, Texas; two brothers, Kenneth Schuelein of Elk City and Vernon Schuelein of Puget Sound, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one grandchild.
