ENID, OK — Preston Leon Rash, 53, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in Oklahoma City, Okla., after a brief battle with brain cancer.
His funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, Stillwater, Okla., with the Revs. Kyle Anderson and Alan Nagel officiating. Interment will be in Lamont Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. today, June 1, at Strode Funeral Home, Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Preston was born Nov. 29, 1960, in Las Vegas, Nev., to Leon Delbert Rash and Leola Joyce Arnold Rash.
He attended preschool in Lamont, Okla.; grade school in Las Vegas, Nev.; junior high school at SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe) in Mons, Belgium; and high school at Deer Creek-Lamont, graduating in 1979. He continued his education at Northern Oklahoma College, graduating with a general engineering technology associate’s degree in 1981 and a math associate’s degree in 1988.
He received bachelor of science and master of science degrees in technical education (computer network training emphasis) from Oklahoma State University in 1991 and 1995 respectively. He earned a practical nursing (LPN) degree in 2007 from Meridian Technology Center in Stillwater.
Preston was employed as a systems analyst for Oklahoma State University; director of communications and technology for the University Center of Enid; channel services development manager for Compaq Computer Corporation; installed sales coordinator for Lowe’s of Stillwater; director of sales/trainer for Astrea Systems Inc.; and sales representative for Bob Howard Automall and Johnson’s of Stillwater.
After receiving his nursing degree, he was employed by Cushing Regional Hospital; AMC Urgent Care Plus; Integris hospital in Enid; and, his most recent employment, Veterans Administration Community-Based Outpatient Clinic in Stillwater.
In 1988, Preston was united in marriage to Dea Denise Muegge. To this union two children were born, Kendra Jewell and Madison Aileen.
Preston was a member of Nikaze Dojo in Stillwater, where he held the rank of Yondan in Aikido. He was an Aikido instructor at the OSU Colvin Center. He was raised as a Master Mason on June 14, 1984, and he was a member of Frontier Masonic Lodge 48 in Stillwater. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Stillwater.
Preston was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Goldie Rash and Isaac and Myrtle Arnold.
He is survived by his wife, Dea, and two daughters, Kendra and Madison, of the home; his parents, Leon and Leola Rash; Don and Bonnie Muegge, both of Lamont; sister, Regina Warnick and husband Kirk of Woodward; Chad Muegge and Clay Muegge and wife Jennifer, all of Lamont; Zeljko Nikolic and wife, Davorka, of Plymouth, Mich.; nieces, Chelsea Love and husband Owen, Rachel Bilbo and husband Kyle, Katie Warnick, Marian Muegge, Katherine Muegge and Caroline Muegge; nephews, Elliot Muegge and wife Morgan, Harrison Muegge, Fisher Muegge, William Muegge, Dominik Nikolic and Nolan Nikolic.
