Juanita (Kent) Yowell, 94, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, in Tyler, Texas. Graveside services will be held at noon Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at Hawley Cemetery, Nash. Arrangements under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Amanda Juanita Kent was born with her twin sister Nancy Loreta Kent on Jan. 25, 1922, to parents Raymond C. Kent and Nellie E. (Gilley) Kent in Grant County, Okla., near Nash. She was a Cradle Roll member of Bethel Baptist Church, Hawley and a lifelong Baptist. Juanita "Nita" graduated Gore Consolidated School with the class of 1940. On April 5, 1942, she married the love of her life, Carl "Jack" Yowell Jr. in Medford. They had almost 50 loving years together until his death Sept. 28, 1991.
She had a full life of almost 95 years, caring for her husband and daughters, staying interested in history and current events, reading her Bible, and she always had a book in her hand. She was the "keeper" of family history and had many scrapbooks of family pictures, letters and keepsakes, many from her youth and high school days. She was proud of her Oklahoma roots and yearned to return "home."
As the last remaining member of her immediate family, she was also preceded in death by her parents, sister Ruby, and twin sister Loreta, brothers George and Bob.
She is survived by her daughters; Carla Murphy (husband David), Tyler, Texas, and Jackie Bobo of Houston, Texas; grandson David Andreas (wife Dee) and one great-granddaughter. Also surviving and loving her are her sister in-law, (widow of Bob) Lavaugn Kent, several nieces, Patty Maphet, Tom Kilty and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to: VCC-Food Pantry, % Dee Andreas, 1867 E. Miller Road, Vermont, IL 61484.
