Died August 3, 2020
Matthew Gregory Waibel of Enid, Oklahoma, left his earthly home on August 3, 2020, after a short battle with cancer. He only lived 17 days after his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
Matt met the love of his life, Hazel Petty, in 2003, and they were together for seventeen years. He was a Kansas City Chiefs fan, loved the Oklahoma Sooners, enjoyed fishing with his buddies, golf, softball, and bowling.
Matt previously worked for T&W Tire, Hackney, Unifirst, and most recently he assisted Hazel with her home day care.
Matt's favorite things were sitting by his firepit, co-hosting a yearly crawdad boil on Labor Day weekend, watching sports and visiting with his family and friends.
Matt is survived by his partner Hazel and his brother Randy Waibel and wife Patti of Yukon. He lost his sisters Diane Dickerson and Sandei Fain and brother-in-law Paul Dickerson to cancer just a few years ago.
Matt loved spending time with his family. His nephews Kevin Dickerson and wife Christine, Chris Waibel and wife Becky, Scoop Waibel and wife Tara, Zachary Waibel, and his nieces Kristina Dickerson, Michele Crittenden, Dacia Barnes, and Suzy Haddon and husband Tommy all came to spend time with him. Matt considered Hazel's children, Ronny and Jacey Petty and Bill and Kari Petty, his own. He was a grandpa to Bryant and Shalyn Petty.
Memorial gifts may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church's Marshallese Ministry. The family plans a memorial in his honor at Hawley Cemetery on Aug. 22 at 1 p.m.
