Hawley Cemetery


August 15, 1938 - June 24, 2018

Funeral service for Marye Shafer, 79, Hennessey, is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Jimmy Berkenbile. Burial follows in Hawley Cemetery, under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation is 6-7:00 p.m. this evening, June 27, 2018, at the funeral home.

Marye was born August 15, 1938, in Salt Fork, Oklahoma, to Lyle and Dolores (Ekstrom) Osborn, and passed away on June 24, 2018, in Enid. Marye married James Shafer on September 15, 1956, in Pond Creek, Oklahoma. She enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Moose Lodge. She loved playing cards and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, and her parents.

She is survived by her four children, Doug Shafer and Greg Shafer of Hennessey, Scott Shafer of Enid, and Kerry and James R. Fuksa of Hennessey; one brother, Lyle Gene Osborn of Pond Creek; three sisters, Peggy Schoonover of Tampa, Florida, Debbie Aebi of Yukon, and Shirley Cole of Pond Creek.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hennessey Care Center.
