Funeral for Lois Kraus, 81, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Bethel-Hawley Baptist Church. Interment will be in Hawley Cemetery with Rev. Gary Lillie officiating. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek. Family visitation 6-7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Lois Faye Fletcher Kraus, 81, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Enid. She was born Jan. 7, 1930, near Montevalla, Mo., to E.A. “Duke” and Flossie Rider Fletcher. Due to the death of her mother at age 4 months, she was loved and cared for by Amy J. Harkreader of Bronaugh, Mo.
She attended school in Bronaugh, graduating from high school in 1948. She was a bookkeeper for the Missouri Farmer Association Co-op in Bronaugh.
She married Tom Kraus Sr. Dec. 22, 1950, in Nevada, Mo. They moved to the Gore-Hawley area to live.
She taught Sunday school at Bethel-Hawley Baptist Church for a number of years, was secretary for Liverday Grange and a charter member of Friendly Group Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; foster mother, Amy Harkreader; husband, T.E. Kraus; and two stepbrothers.
Surviving are sons, Tom Kraus Jr. and Mary of Pond Creek and Randy Kraus and Regina of Medford; daughter, Cindy Smith and Chuck of Medford; sisters, Betty Sheehy of Nevada, Mo., Katherine Murray of Hume, Mo., Barbara Fitz Gerald of Kansas City, Mo., Beverly Fletcher of Richards, Mo., and Hattie Shaw of Bronaugh, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Bethel-Hawley Baptist Church, Hawley Rural Fire Department, Hawley Cemetery or the charity of donor’s choice. (Submitted by family)
