Ruth Eleanor (Hollopeter) Cudé died in Houston, Texas on June 29, 2017 at the age of 83. Visitation and viewing for Ruth will be held at Trout Funeral Home & Crematory in Ponca City on Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. A graveside ceremony will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the historic Eddy New Home Cemetery (NW of Tonkawa in Grant County) with Rev. Robert Montgomery Officiating.
Eleanor was the oldest daughter of Esther and Charles Hollopeter of rural Blackwell. She was born in Stillwater, OK on February 9, 1934. She was a graduate of Blackwell High School and Oklahoma State University.
Eleanor was a talented and caring teacher in school systems in Oklahoma and Kansas. She advanced her education in social services and retired from the State of Kansas in social work. She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and always served as a choir member. Eleanor was blessed in her life and cared for many. She would help anyone accomplish their lives' dreams and goals. She was very much loved.
She is survived by two sons, William (Bill) Anderson and wife, Pamela of Lawton, Oklahoma; Robert Anderson and wife Leanne of Tomball, step-son, Jim Cudé and wife Lisa of Fredonia, Kansas, five grandchildren: Brandi Johnson, Michael Foote, Kimberly Pickens, Derrick Anderson, and Natasha Anderson, sisters: Charlotte Coffelt of Kingwood, TX, Virginia Bracken-Awtrey of Stillwater, Marilyn Sherrod of Ponca City, Judith Turner of Broken Arrow and Charlene Burns of Tonkawa, several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Cudé, her parents, and two sisters, Marianne Hollopeter and Carolyn Shreck.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eddy New Home Cemetery in care of Marilyn Sherrod of 1 Stoneridge, Ponca City, OK 74604.
