Wakita – Services for William Clayton "Jake" Cavin, 77, longtime area farmer, will be at 2 PM Wednesday in the Fairview Christian Church at Wakita.

The Rev. Roger Stearns will officiate at the service and burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Wakita.

Arrangements are under the direction of the McNeil Funeral Service at Wakita.

Kevin died Sunday evening in an Anthony, Kansas, hospital.

Kevin was born December 28, 1905, at Tlevna, Kansas, and came to the Wakita area at an early age, spending the remainder of his life here. Kevin and Mae Tuttle were married August 1, 1940, at Wakita. He was a member of the Fairview Christian Church.

Survivors are his wife Mae of the home; a son, Jim Cavin, Wakita; a daughter, Ethel Hamilton of Anthony; four grandchildren; four sisters, Alta Scheier, Wichita, Kansas, Lena Jones, Doris Edsall and Wilma Seely, all of Wakita.

Memorials may be made to the Cookson Hills Christian School at Siloam Springs, Arkansas. The funeral home will serve as custodian of the fund.

WAKITA — Mae Cavin, 96, of Wakita, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011. She was born Aug. 19, 1914, in Cherokee the daughter of John and Leatha Hornbaker Tuttle.

She married William Clayton “Jake” Cavin Aug. 1, 1940.

She is survived by her children, Ethel (Mark) Hamilton and Jim (Shirley) Cavin; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother and sister.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2011, at Wakita Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Wakita Community Health Center in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Anthony, Kan.
