© The Chickasha Express-Star 8 April 2010 Gary Lyn Grissam Gary Lyn Grissam, 50, was born Feb. 28, 1960, in Rush Springs, Okla., to Harrell R. and Hazel Louise [Morris] Grissam. He passed from this life on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at his Chickasha home, following a long illness. Gary was a lifetime resident of Grady County, and attended school at Pioneer and Ninnekah. He was a truck driver for 28 years, working for Jewett-Scott, Calhoma, Traywick & Passmore truck lines, and Choctaw Express. Gary and the former Crystle Coker were married in Chickasha on May 29, 2001. Gary played many musical instruments, including the piano, organ, accordion and all the stringed instruments. When younger he played in a few bands, but the last few years he only played at church or at home. He was a member of the Full Gospel Church for the last 11 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Katherine Martin, and 1 nephew Robert Shane Grissam. Survivors include his wife Crystle of the Chickasha home; 5 sons, Gary Lyn Grissam II, and wife Judith of Fort Worth, Texas, John Ashley, and J.J, Ashley of Chickasha, and Blake Grissam of Verden; one daughter Megan Ashley of Chickasha; one grandson, Jason Grissam of Duncan; 5 brothers, Glen Grissam and wife Ikie, Joe Grissam, and Larry Grissam, all of Pocasset; Robert Grissam and wife Cathy of Teague, Texas, and Darrell Grissam and wife Michelle of Chickasha; 2 sisters, Marilyn Crossen and husband Jack, and Dolly Grissam, all of Chickasha; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many loving friends. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, at Full Gospel Church, with the Rev. Alice Wendling and Youth Pastor Brother Eric Thornberg officiating. Burial will follow in West View Cemetery, Rush Springs. Viewing at Steverson Funeral Home, Anadarko, will last from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m, Friday. |
