© The Verden News Verden, Oklahoma 25 May 1923 Paul Wood Whitley Paul Wood, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Kirby Whitley, died at the family residence four miles south of town early Wednesday morning. The little fellow was one of twins and was born September 4, 1922. Affected with indigestion, his short life was far from happiness and death came as a relief. Thus over a happy home the shadow of a little grave has fallen and as another has said, it is wonderful how long a shadow of a little grave can throw. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Chas. Mass of the M. E. church conducted the services and spoke the words of tenderest sympathy and comfort, of deepest Christian hope and promise. The choir sung with peculiar beauty and sweetness several appropriate selections. Flowers covered the little casket. The little form was laid to rest in the family lot in our Silent City. Death came with friendly care, The opening bud to heaven conveyed, And bade it blossom there. The sympathy of the community is extended to the sorrowing parents. |
