© The Verden News Verden, Oklahoma 24 July 1942 John Clint Wasson Rites Held Sunday For J. C. Wasson Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock for John C. Wasson, 70, a resident of Grady County since 1909, was conducted at the Baptist church by Rev. C. W. Taylor assisted by Rev. Lawrence Leach. The choir composed of Mrs. R. M. Caldwell, Mrs. Ed MaGuire, B. M. and F. G. Ransbarger, sang "Face to Face," "Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "Nearer My God To Thee" with Miss Adeline MaGuire at piano. Mr. Wasson died about 11 o'clock Tuesday night at his home in Verden after a lingering illness. He was born in Grimes County, Texas and came to the Verden community with his family from Texas in 1909. Surviving members of the family include his wife, Margaret, three sons, Roy and Lee of Verden, and Henry of San Diego, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Addie Mills of Verden, Mrs. Chrystine Wilson of Toledo, Ore., and Mrs. Sybil Smith and Mrs. Katherine Watson of San Diego, Calif.; nine grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Goodwin of Breckinridge, Texas and Mrs. Sybil Akers of Abilene, Texas. |
© The Chickasha Star Chickasha, Oklahoma 30 June 1966 Margaret D. [Simmons] Wasson Rites Held Thursday For Mrs. Margaret D. Wasson Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret D. Wasson were held Thursday at 2:30 p.m.in the First Methodist Church with the Rev. A. B. Hickman, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Harry Dodson, Mr. W. A. Finley, Mrs. Chester Heavin and Mrs. Dale Henricks, accompanied by Mrs. Donald Brown at the piano, sang 'How Great Thou Art,' 'Precious Memories' and 'Beautiful Isle.' Pallbearers were Houston Beene, Paul DeBoard, Eldridge Smith, Dank Pitts, Will McVey and Floyd Simmons. Interment was in the Verden Cemetery under the direction of Hansen Funeral Home. Mrs. Wasson was born June 30, 1876 in Springville, Ala. She was married to John C. Wasson March 3, 1895 in Stephens County, Texas and they moved to Oklahoma in 1900. He and four children preceded her in death. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She died June 21, 1966 at the Shannon Springs Rest Home. She is survived by two sons, Roy Wasson of Verden and Henry Wasson of Santee, Calif., four daughters, Mrs. Addie Mills of Chickasha, Mrs. Sybil Wagner of Santa Rosa, Calif., Mrs. Christine Wilson of Lakeside, Calif., and Mrs. KathrynWatson of El Cajon, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. |
