Last Rites Held For John D. Walters

Late rites for John D. Walters, 73, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. G. W. Gaidaroff, pastor, and Rev. C. W. Taylor officiating. Burial was in the Verden Cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Donald Brown, Mrs. J. N. Kern, Mrs. C. W. Hamill and Miss Nan Bilbrey with Mrs. I. H. Bilbrey at the piano.

Casket bearers were L. B. Seago, C. B. Dabney, C. W. Hamill, J. N. Kern, Kirby Whitley and R. L. Berger.
Mrs. Walters died on June 11, 1951 at his home. He was born September 13, 1877 in Arkansas. He had lived at Verden several years.

He is survived by his wife and a host of other relatives and friends.

Kate Walters

Mrs. Kate Walters Services Saturday

Funeral services for Mrs. Kate Walters were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21 at the First Baptist Church, Verden, with Rev. Elvis Waters and Rev. Harold Watson officiating. Interment was in the Verden Cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Donald Brown, Mrs. C. W. Hamill, Mrs. Harry Dodson, and Mrs. John Kern sang 'It is Well With My Soul,' 'Will the Circle Be Unbroken,' and 'Sweet Bye and Bye.' Mrs. E. R. Nelson was the pianist.

Casket bearers were John Kern, Mars Turner, C. B. Dabney, Alex Williams, Kirby Whitley and Jeff Satterwhite.

Mrs. Walters passed away at the Women and Children Hospital on May 18, 1955 at 1 p.m. at the age of 82 years, 4 months, and 15 days. She was born January 3, 1872 at Yates Center, Kan. She had been in ill health the past few years.

Survivors include her children; Mrs. Delphine Scott, Garland, Tex.; George A. Bell, Loma, Colo.; Mrs. Alice M. Graves, Anadarko, Rt. 2; John W. Bell, Chickasha and William I. Bell, Chowchilla, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Mattie Blyve of Washington
