29 October 1937Joseph Lee Tippett
Joseph Lee Tippett, son of Rev. J. F. and Lucinda Tippett was born at Franklin, North Carolina, May 27 1890. Passed away at his home October 25, 1937 at the age of 47 years, 4 months, 22 days. He had been ill for some time due to cancer. He was married to Mary Edith Dayton on October 14, 1912. To this union was born one daughter, Neatha Olive, April 6, 1914. He was converted and united with the Baptist church at Verden in 19_3 and was baptized by Rev. C. W. Taylor.
He led a devoted, consecrated Christian life and was loved by all who came in contact with him. He was a leader in the promotion of anything good and upright for his fellow man. He is survived by his wife and daughter, son-in-law, his devoted mother, Mrs. J. F. Tippett, three brothers, C. M., George and Frank Tippett, and five sisters, Mrs. Cora Foster, Mrs. Ethel Janssen, Mrs. O. H. Hall, Misses Minnie and Margaret Tippett, and a host of friends.
He was made a member of Verden A. F. & A. M. Lodge on February 5th, 1921. Members of this lodge held Masonic services at the Verden cemetery before the body was laid to rest.
Pall bearers were G. C. McBee, H. G. Hinkle, G. H. Allen, E. W. Peters, Claude Roper and Ed Maguire.
Hansen Funeral Home had charge of the burial arrangements.
