John William Swalley

John William Swalley was born September 29, 1892, in Canadian county, Oklahoma. He moved to Caddo county with his parents at the opening of that county to settlement in 1901. He was educated in the public school and in December of 1915 was married to Miss Nellie Manning.

To complete this home have been given four sons; J. D., Bert, Marvin, and Harold and two daughters; Lella May and Betty Maxine, all of whom are at home.

The family had made their home in Delaware county during the last twelve years.

Five years ago a severe attack of influenza left Mr. Swalley in poor health. He has, however, attended loyally to the duties of home and family, with always a hope that he might regain his health. He was able to go to the doctor unaided the day before his death at midnight March 25th.

All that loving hands and tender hearts could do, was done, but to no avail. Besides the wife and children who grieve at his passing, there remains his father, J. E. Swalley and Mrs. J. E. Swalley and three brothers, Fred, J. C. and Floyd. His stepsister, Mrs. W. H. Galloway and his friends numbered by those who knew him.

Kind and affectionate husband and father, faithful and true son and brother, generous and loyal friend. Our loss is heavens gain.

A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home
That never can be filled.
