Funeral services for Mrs. Rose Spurlin, 75, who died June 15 in Albany, Calif., were held Thursday afternoon in the Methodist Church with Rev. Sam M. Anderson officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dodson, accompanied by Mrs. Donald Brown, sang Rock of Ages, In the Garden and Beyond the Sunset.
Pallbearers were Leo Talkington, Orville Talkington, Ernest P. Henry, Bill McComas, Martin Henry and Phelan Mobbs.
Mrs. Spurlin was born Jan. 24, 1887 in Sheridan, Ark. She was a former resident of Verden and had made her home in California the past several years.
Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Viola Osborne of Riverside, Calif.; one son, Perry O. Reed of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Deas of Berkeley, Calif., and Mrs. Ruth Dundle of El Segundo, Calif.; and four brothers, Arthur Sawyer of Kissme, Fla., George Sawyer of Castro Valley, Calif., Bill (Willis) Sawyer of Santa Clara, Calif., and Harry Sawyer of Reseda, Calif.
Interment was in Verden Cemetery under the direction of Hansen Funeral Home.
