© The Chickasha Daily Express Chickasha, Oklahoma Monday, December 18, 2006 Lester Thompson Ross Jr Funeral service for Lester Ross, Jr., 76, of Verden will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at the First Baptist Church of Verden. Lester Ross, Jr. was born January 30, 1930, in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma the son of Lester and Ollie [Thompson] Ross. He died December 16, 2006 at his home in Verden. He was raised in the Oney-Washita community. Lester and Nelda Willis, were married on April 23, 1976, in Wichita Falls, Texas. They have had 30 wonderful years together. He was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa and friend. He loved people and never met a stranger. He was a simple man, living day by day and never had a blueprint for his life or any of the things he built. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He worked as a welder for numerous trailer manufacturers from 1975 - 1991. The past fifteen years he worked for Denver Tally working in maintenance and also restoring antique cars. Lester was preceded in death by both parents; three brothers: Benjamin, Fairl and Thomas. Survivors include his wife Nelda, of the home; son and daughter-in-law: Jim and Cathy Ross, of Mountain View; four daughters and sons-in-law: Ruby Jean Dillon, of Carnegie, Kathy Ross Moore of Glendale, Arizona; Pearl Annette and Ray Waldroop, of Park Hill; Mary Inez and Joe Davenport, of Oklahoma City; stepson, Michael Perdue, of Dallas, Texas; four stepdaughters and sons-in-law: Betty Revelle, Kathy and Frank Porto, all of Virginia; JoAnn and Mark Gresham, of Chickasha; Loyce and Alan Pennington, of Houston, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Velma Ross; nineteen grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. Interment will be in the Verden Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
