© The Chickasha Star Chickasha, Oklahoma 19 October 1967 Arthur Jessie Reece FUNERAL SERVICES FOR ARTHUR J. REECE Arthur J. Reece, 88, of Verden, died at 3:09 p.m. Thursday, October 12, at Grady Memorial Hospital, Chickasha, Oklahoma. He was born August 5, 1879, in Faulkner County, Arkansas. He was married to Miss Barbara Jane Wright on May 23, 1901 in Danville, Ark. She preceded him in death on August 5, 1954. He came to Oklahoma in 1907 and moved to Verden in1946. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Flora Hellum of Verden, Mrs. Pauline Dickenson of Chickasha and Mrs. Leona Thoas of Lawton; two sons, Alfred Reece of Dallas, Texas, and Fred Reece of Houston, Texas, eighteen grandchildren and13 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Alma Chastain of Caney, Kansas. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church at Verden, Sunday afternoon 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Paul Hampton officiating. The casket bearers were W. A. Finley, Paul DeBoard, Doyle Brinlee, G. O. Henrick, Bill Dodson, and Dale Dickenson. Music was rendered by Mrs. W. A. Finley, Mrs. Max Upchurch, Mrs. Dale Hendricks, and Mrs. Clifford Nath, who sang Precious Memories, When they Ring The Golden Bells and I wont Have to Cross Jordan Alone, accompanied by Mrs. Donald D. Brown. Interment was in the Verden Cemetery under the direction of the Hansen Funeral Home of Verden. |
© The Verden News 6 August 1954 Barbara Jane [Wright] Reece Mrs. A. J. Reece, long-time resident of Verden, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Thursday at her home following several months illness. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church Sunday, August 8, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth Elkins, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Verden Cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Barbara Jane Reece was born in Newton County, Arkansas, January 27, 1882 and passed away August 5 at the age of 72 years, six months and 8 days. Survivors include her husband, A. J. Reece, Sr., five children: Mrs. Fiona (?) Hallum, Verden; A. J. Reece, Jr., Dallas, Texas; F(?) Reece, Houston, Texas; Mrs. Pauline Dickenson, Verden and Mrs. Leona Thomas, Lawton; 15 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; one brother, Jack Wright of Arcona, Arkansas and one sister, Mrs. Martha Barton, Pineville, Mo. |
