T. B. MANNING, PIONEER FARMER DIES SUNDAY Thomas B. Manning, died at his home Sunday morning after being ill for the past year.
Born in Colorado June 7, 1866, and passed away in his home 4 miles north and one east of town at 6:10 a. m. September 27, 1942, at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 20 days.
As a boy [he] lived in Tarkio, Atchison county, Missouri. When he was 25 years, he met Miss Abbie Frances Tadder at Elmo, Norway county, Mo., where they were married November 31, 1890. They lived in Atchison county, Missouri until 1892 when they moved to old Oklahoma near Yukon, from there they moved to their present home in 1901, where they live now.
To this union were born ten children, two of whom preceded him in death.
Mr. Manning was christened in the Catholic Church and followed that belief to his death.
The funeral services were held at the Baptist church, Wednesday with Rev. C. W. Taylor officiating assisted by Rev. Lawrence Leach, pastor.
Music was in charge by Mrs. E. W. Peters and the bearers [who] were old friends and neighbors were: Percy and John Kern, Dick Brown, Fred and Berry Smith and Sam Talkington.
"A loving one from us is gone. A voice we loved is stilled. A chair is vacant in our home, which never can be filled."
He leaves to mourn his death, his devoted wife, Abbie Manning and 5 daughters, Mary Williams, Nellie Swalley of Verden; Vada Talkington of Camarillo, Calif., Margarett McManus, Rio Linda, Calif., Elsie Grissom, Salinas, Calif., and three sons, Thomas, Jr. of Verden, Bill of Salinas, Calif., and Parey of Chickasha; 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Hansen Funeral Home was in charge of the burial arrangements.
