Odie R. Manning

With a heavy heart we drop a tear to the memory of Odie R. Manning, who died at his home here early Friday morning, December 5th. His death has brought the bitter cup of sorrow to the lips of friends and relatives.

His was the heart of gold. He was one of natures nobelmen in its truest sense brave, generous, manly. His was the soul of honor and his friends and friendships were sacred to him.

Odie R. Manning, the subject of this simple memorial was born in Canadian county. At the time of his death [he] was 31 years and one day old. About ten years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Rosa Talkington and to this union was born three sons and one daughter. For a number of years he has conducted a meat market here, selling his business only a few days prior to his death. After assisting in invoicing the stock, he was taken down sick, from which sickness he died.

He was a devoted husband and a kind and indulgent father; to his sisters a tender brother, to his friends the soul of fellowship. But the greatest of all he was a man, and as a man it is that those who knew him best most love to contemplate.

In addition to his heartbroken wife and children, he is survived by a father and mother, five sisters, three brothers and a large circle of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the M. E. church at 10 o'clock a. m. Saturday, the Rev. Graham officiating. Being a member of the I. O. O. F. the members of that noble order officiated at [the] grave, paying him the tribute due all worthy members who pass on.

The floral offerings were many and beautiful.
