W. A. LAMB SERVICES HELD SUNDAY, OCT 1 Funeral services for William A. Lamb, pioneer resident of Verden were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 2 at the local Methodist Church with Rev. Hal Noble, pastor, officiating.
Music for the service was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. Donald Brown, Mrs. R. E. Flood, Mrs. Harry Dodson and Mrs. C. W. Hamill who sang Face to Face, No Night There and Abide With Me. Mrs. Flod Adkisson played the piano acompaniment.
Casket bearers were Harry Dodson, Donald Brown, V. E. "Chick" Griffith, Dank Pitts, Paul DeBoard and Phelen Mobbs.
Internment was in the Verden Cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge.
William A. Lamb was born in Dardanelle, Arkansas, August 1st, 1868 and passed away at his house in Verden, Oklahoma, September 30th, 1949, at the age of 81 years, one month and 29 days. He had been in failing health for several months.
He was united in marriage to Mary McWhorter October 27th, 1887 and moved to Oklahoma in 1899, making their home in or near Verden since that time. To this union were born eight children. Two daughters, Emma and Sadie, preceded him in death. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Those left to mourn his departure are his wife, Mrs. Mary Lamb, three daughters, Mrs. Dalton Noel, Oklahoma City, Mrs. Roberta Davis, Anadarko and Miss Florence Lamb, Verden. Three sons, Marvin of Mustang, Ernest of Enid and Robert of Verden, and a grandson, Newton Morris, Oklahoma City, whom he reared. Thirteen other grandchildren: one sister, Mrs. Sallie Collins of Electra, Texas also a host of other relatives and friends.
