© The Verden News March 31, 1939 Mary E. Karnes Mrs. Mary E. Karnes died at the home of her son, southwest of town, Wednesday night after a lingering illness. She had been afflicted 17 years with paralysis and confined to her bed most of the time. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church here Friday morning at 1000 o'clock with Rev. Spradlin of Gracemont officiating. Survivers include one son, Mose Karnes, and a host of other relatives and friends. Interment was made in the Verden cemetery.
