Joseph Hostick

As we go to press (Thursday) we learn of the death of Joseph Hostick, at the home of his son Sherman in Verden.

He had been ailing for about a year and gradually grew weaker and weaker until he answered the final summons at 10 o'clock Thursday morning, October 17.

Deceased was 78 years of age and leaves three sons to mourn his loss; Frank of Laverty, J. W. of Elkhart, Ind. and Sherman of Verden.

Arrangements for the funeral were not completed at this time, awaiting an answer to a telegram sent to his son at Elkhart.

The funeral of Joseph Hostick was conducted from the residence of his son Sherman in Verden, Friday afternoon, October 18, by Rev. John H. Scott of the M. E. church and the remains were laid to rest in the Verden cemetery. Deceased was born in Lebanon, Penn., in 1884 and passed away on Thursday, October 17, 1912. He has been ill for about a year and grew weaker and weaker until the end came last Thursday.

Joseph Hostick was married to Miss Sarah Light in Erie, Michigan, in 1861, and to this union was born three boys and one girl. Mrs. Hostick died in Erie, Michigan, in 1901, after which he came to Oklahoma and made his home with his son, where he spent the remainder of his life.
