Our entire community was saddened Saturday morning, October 25th, when they learned that Grandpa Harris had died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. L. Daniel near Chickasha. Mr. Harris was one of our most respected and loved men, and he had reached the ripe old age of 72 years.
Deceased was born in Ohio, September 5th, 1841. He was married to Miss Olive Smith, October 14, 1867, to which union seven children were born, six of whom are still living to mourn his loss; they are Mrs. J. L. Daniel and Mrs. E. S. Shaw of Chickasha, Oscar D. Harris and Ed Harris of Cement, John Harris and Charley W. Harris of Newton, Kansas.
Deceased had enjoyed the best of health until July last when complicated diseases set in.
Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church in Verden by Rev. P. F. Harman, Monday, October 27th. The remains were laid to rest in the Verden cemetery beside the loving wife who was laid to rest six years ago. A host of sorrowing friends extend their heartfelt sympathy to the family in their bereavement.
CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to the kind friends and neighbors who so ably assisted us during the last sickness and sad death and burial of our father; for kind words of sympathy and floral offerings.
Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Daniel,
Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Shaw,
Mr. and Mrs. O. D. Harris,
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Harris.
