Amanda M. [Pope] Dickenson
January 17, 1878 ~ May 6, 1953


Services Held Sunday For Mrs. Sam Dickenson

Funeral services for Mrs. Sam Dickenson were conducted Sunday, May 10, at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Verden. Rev. Garland Anderson of El Reno, formerly a pastor here and Rev. Kenneth Elkins, pastor, officiated.

Interment was in the Verden Cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Music was rendered by Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Adkisson and Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Seago who sang "Will the Circle BeUnbroken," "Farther Along" and "Sweet Bye and Bye." Mrs. Donald Brown was pianist.

Casket bearers were Paul DeBoard, C. B. Dabney, Orval Heavin, Lee Fowler, Donald Brown and Bill McVey.

Mrs. Dickenson died at her home Wednesday, May 6, following a two-day illness. She suffered a stroke enroute home from the funeral of Rev. P. F. Harman.

Amanda M. Pope was born in Travis County, Texas, January 17, 1878 and passed away at her home in Verden, May 6, 1953 at the age of 75 years, three months and 19 days.

She was united in marriage to Sam R. Dickenson December 25, 1892 in Travis County, Texas and to this union was born eight children, one having preceded her in death.

The family moved to Oklahoma in 1902, settling around Hobart. They moved to Carnegie in 1916 and to Verden in 1926.

She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Those left to mourn her departure are her husband, Sam R. Dickenson, Verden; four sons, Jim D. and Willie, Carnegie; Ben F., Chickasha and Dale J., Verden; three daughters, Mrs. Alpha King and Mrs. Reva Miller, Chickasha and Mrs. Bea [?] Novy, Verden; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Frits, San Antonio, Texas and Mrs. Eddie Carlile, Georgetown, Texas; two brothers, Riley Pope, Georgetown, Texas and Wiley Pope, Lyford, Texas: 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Dorothy Mae [Boun] Dickenson
January 16, 1916 ~ September 15, 1985


Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sepember 17, 1985 in the First Baptist Church of Verden for Dorothy Mae Dickenson, 69, of Verden, who died September 15, 1985 at Chickasha.

Officiating at the services were Rev. Roy Lind of Lexington, Cleveland county, Ok., assisted by Rev. Burl Mackey, pastor.

Burial was in the Verden Cemetery under the direction of Hansen-Binyon Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Dickenson was born January 16, 1916 at Rush Springs, Ok. to James Wesley and Toye Brown.

She married Dale Dickenson in March of 1935 at Verden.

Mrs. Dickenson had lived at Rush Springs since 1935.

Preceding her in death was her husband on 30-Dec-1975; her parents; four brothers and one sister. Survivors include two daughters, three brothers, four sisters, and three grandsons.

Burl Raymond Dickenson Sr
September 25, 1922 ~ September 5, 2012


Burl Raymond Dickenson, Sr., 89, of Lawton, died September 5, 2012 in Lawton, Oklahoma. The son of Etta Mae [Harmon] and Jim Dickenson, he was born September 25, 1922 in Carnegie, Oklahoma.

He served in the U.S. Army during WW II.

Burl worked for many years as a plumber.

He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Odd Fellows.

Burl loved to fish and hunt but spending time with his grandchildren was his greatest enjoyment.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pauline Dickenson; son, Dennis Dickenson; granddaughter, Recka Dickenson; and brother, Johnnie Dickenson.

Burl is survived by his son, Burl Dickenson, Jr. and wife Eileen of Marlow; daughter, Janet Ludwig and husband Larry of Lawton; twelve grandchildren; Jessica and Kellan Fortney of Lawton, Christopher Ludwig and Chemae Hensley of Chickasha, Kyle Ludwig of Lawton, Chad and Leslie Dickenson of Lindsay, Randy Dickenson of Lindsay, Jared Dickenson of Marlow, Christy and Dustin Haynes of Maysville, Lisa and Troy Butler of Dibble, Donnie and Tinisha Dickenson of Maysville, Heather and Caleb Clark of Maysville, Ranea and Brother Alcorn of Chickasha, and B.J. Dickenson of Chickasha; fifteen great grandchildren, Siddalee Fortney of Lawton, Raeanne Haynes of Maysville, Jacob England of Dibble, Brayden Butler of Dibble, Kendra Butler of Dibble, Nickalas Clark of Maysville, Jaci Jenson of Lindsay, Zoey Neeley of Maysville, Joseph Neeley of Maysville, Therese Moore of Maysville, Renzie Alcorn of Chickasha, Reiobi Alcorn of Chickasha, Misty Mashburn of Duncan, James Lorenson of Texas and Isaac Dickenson of Chickasha; two great-great grandchildren, Kaydon Mashburn of Duncan, and Kyler Mashburn of Duncan; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard with Rev. Steve Mahan officiating. Interment will follow in the Verden Cemetery. Rexanne "Recka" Dickenson was born July 31, 1969, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Jodean Fulton and Dennis Dickenson. She passed away July 15, 2002, at 32 years of age.

Rexanne graduated high school in Chickasha.

She has done freelance modeling in Lawton and went on to become a licensed CNA at Grace Living Center in Chickasha.

She enjoyed singing, dancing, modeling, horses and being with family and friends.

Survivors include parents and their spouses: Jodean and Billy Glass, of Chickasha; Dennis and Penny Dickenson, of Dibble; daughter: Misty Kay Reece, of Lawton; son: James Roy Burns Lorenson, Jr., of Colorado; 3 brothers: Billy Roy Dickenson and wife Ratona, of Chickasha; Donnie Lee Dickenson, of Dibble; John David Daniel Dickenson, of Chickasha; 5 sisters: Dena Ranae Alcorn and husband Reford, of Chickasha; Christina Lynn McCarrell, of Dibble; Rebecca Dawn Glidewell and husband Howard Poor, of Verden; Lisa Marie Butler and husband Troy, of Dibble; Heather Renee Dickenson, of Dibble; grandfathers: Rex Sanders, Sr., of Verden, and Burl Dickenson, Sr., of Lawston; grandparents: Herschel and Rosey Hughest, of Dayton, Ohio; great grandmother: Eula Mac Mangus, of Chickasha; and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by grandmothers: Doris Fay Sanders and Pauline Dickenson; great grandfather: Rufus Daniel Mangus, and uncle Kenneth Sanders.

Rexanne was a beautiful, loving, caring mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend. She's loved by many family and friends. She was taken from us all too soon and will be missed greatly.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. at Verden Cemetery.

Reception will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Full Gospel Church Fellowship Hall, 813 N. 10th, Chickasha. Sister Alice Wendling will officiate.
