© The Verden News Verden, Oklahoma June 26, 1953 June 26, 1891 ~ June 24, 1953 Funeral services for James Robert Dempsey, 62, will be held at 3 p. m. Saturday in the chapel of the Chickasha Funeral Home. Interment will be at Verden. Mr. Dempsey died at 7:25 p. m. Wednesday in his home at Pocasset. He was born in Charlton county, Missouri, June 26, 1891. He came with his parents to Oklahoma in 1901 and had resided in Grady county since that time. Survivors include his wife, Jessie of the home; two sons, J. R. Dempsey, Jr. of Stillwater and William "Buddy" Dempsey of Chickasha; one sister, Mrs. F. G. Ransbarger of Chickasha and two grandchildren. |
© The Verden News Verden, Oklahoma October 3, 1984 January 17, 1896 ~ October 3, 1984 Graveside services were held October 5, 1984 in the Verden Cemetery for Mrs. Jessie Dempsey who died October 3, 1984 at Chickasha. Officiating was Rev. Gerald Kirkpatrick, pastor of the First Christian Church. Internment was under the direction of the Sevier Funeral Home. Mrs. Dempsey was born 17-Jan-1896 in Verden. She married James Robert Dempsey, Sr. She was a lifetime resident of Grady county and Chickasha. She had previously worked at the Chickasha Laundry. Preceding her in death was her husband in 1953. Survivors include one son, one sister, three granddaughters, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Note: Mother of John Robert "J. R" Jr. & William "Buddy" Dempsey |
© The Verden News Verden, Oklahoma October 13, 1933 Unknown ~ 1933 Death Claims Prominent Woman of Verden Mrs. Julia Dempsey passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. G. Ransbarger, Wednesday morning about 5 a. m. Mrs. Dempsey has been in declining health for several years, but bedfast the past few months. During her illness she remained very cheerful, never complaining to her many friends who visited her from time to time. She was a sweet Christian woman, active in all promotions of the Methodist church of which she was a member. She has served as president of the Woman's Home Missionary Society, teacher in the Sunday school, you could always find Mrs. Dempsey among the regular attendance of the Sunday school and church services as long as her health permitted. The funeral service was held at the Methodist church Thursday, October 12 at 3 o'clock. |
