George Courtney
August 17, 1949 ~ August 7, 2016


George Courtney, 66, passed away a home, in Iowa Park, Texas. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, August 11, at Verden Cemetery, in Verden, Oklahoma.

George was born August 17, 1949 in Elk City, Okla, to Jess and Georgia Courtney.

George moved to the Iowa Park area in the early 1970s.

He was a simple man with a simple life. He was a hard worker, a good worker.

George worked as a diesel mechanic for Darr Caterpillar for many years, but for the last five years he was independent.

One of his favorite hobbies was attending swap meets.

George is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Gerry.

Survivors include his brothers, Glen and wife Phyllis, Bill and wife Jonelle; nephew Clint Courtney, nieces Jessica Courtney and Wendy Clift, all of Fort Cobb, Okla; aunt Helen Chester of Elk City; uncle Floyd Courtney and wife Nita of Sayre, Okla; best friend Gopher, special neighbors Mike and Cindy Jordan and their children Mickey and Mable, of Iowa Park, Texas.

Iowa Park, Texas - Rozella Geraldine "Gerry" Harris Courtney, 53, of Iowa Park, Texas, died Tuesday, September 9, 2003, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, September 12, 2003, at Verden Cemetery, Verden, Oklahoma, under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Courtney was born October 20, 1949, in Anadarko, Oklahoma.

She married George Courtney July 14, 1972, in Anadarko, Oklahoma.

She was a Baptist and a homemaker.

Mrs. Courtney was preceded in death by her parents: Alfred Harris, Sr., and Laura James [Henderson] Harris, a brother, James Harris; her grandparents, Jess and Ella Harris and Dora and James Henderson; a nephew, Mark Courtney; and her father-in-law, Jess Courtney.

Survivors include her husband, George Courtney of Iowa Park, Texas; a brother, Alfred Harris, Jr., and his wife, Charlene of Anadarko, OK; a sister: Janice Price and her husband Roger of Cleveland, Oklahoma; her mother-in-law: Goldie Courtney of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma; two brothers-in-law, Bill Courtney and his wife; JoNell, and Glen Courtney and his wife, Phyllis, all of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, TX 76308.
