© The Verden News Verden, Oklahoma May 13, 1949 Raymon Sherwood Choat November 28, 1932 ~ January 14, 2016 Raymon Sherwood Choat of Apache, Oklahoma was born November 28, 1932 in Minco, OK to Arthur James and Ruby Bernice [Cravey] Choat. He passed away at his home on January 14th at the age of 83. Raymon graduated from Verden High School and entered the Army where he served during WWII. After his service, he returned home and married Norva Lee Hixon on November 3, 1956 in Verden. She preceded him in death on July 16, 2009. He went to work for Halliburton in Monahans, TX as a truck driver for 28 years before retiring and returning to Oklahoma. He continued working as a crude oil transporter for several companies, including J&M Petroleum, Road Runner, A&A and Star. After retiring completely from trucking, he dedicated his time to his two grandchildren. He loved going to watch Bryson calf rope at rodeos. He also picked up Paige every day from school and enjoyed going to her activities. When not spending time with his grandkids, he could be found at Hop 'n Sack drinking coffee with his friends. Raymon was also a member of the First Baptist Church. He is survived by: His son - Randy Choat Apache, OK, A daughter and her husband - Susan and Jeff Sechrist Apache, OK, Two grandchildren - Bryson Sechrist and Paige Sechrist, 1 brother and his wife - Arthur "AJ" and Doris Choat, Jr. Verden, OK, Several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by: His parents, His wife, Norva Choat, 2 sons - Carl Choat and Dewayne Choat, 1 brother - Orville Choat, 1 sister - Verna Mae Williams. A graveside service will be held Monday, January 18th at 2:00 P.M. at the Verden Cemetery in Verden, OK, with Pastor Kerry Glasgow officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Crews Funeral Home. |
© The Chickasha Express~Star Chickasha, Oklahoma August 11, 2005 Norva Lee [Hixon] Choat February 1, 1937 ~ July 16, 2005 Norva Lee Choat of Apache, Oklahoma was born February 1, 1937 in Eakley, OK to William Alonzo and Carrie Orlena [Riley] Hixon. She passed away July 16th in Anadarko, OK. Norva married Raymon Sherwood Choat on November 3, 1956 in Verden, OK. She worked for Verden Public Schools in the kitchen and as a janitor until she retired. She and her husband later moved to Apache. She enjoyed following her two grandchildren to ballgames and rodeos. She is survived by: Her husband, Raymon, of the home, Two children, Randy Ray and Twilla Choat of Apache, OK, Susan and Jeff Sechrist of Apache, OK, 2 grandchildren, Bryson Sechrist and Paige Sechrist, 1 brother, Bill and Wanda Hixon of Oklahoma City, a sister, Nova Gibsonn of Chickasha, OK, Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: 2 sons, Carl Choat and Dewayne Choat, 10 brothers and sisters. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, July 18th at 10:00 A.M. at the Verden Cemetery in Verden, OK with Reverend Leon Shade officiating. Services are under the direction of Crews Funeral Home of Apache. |
© The Verden News Verden, Oklahoma May 13, 1949 Shirley Sue Choat May 9, 1949 ~ May 9, 1949 Graveside rites were conducted for Shirley Sue Choat, stillborn daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Choat, at 2:30 May 9 at the Verden cemetery. Rev Garland Anderson, pastor of the First Baptist church, Verden, officiated and the Hansen Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Shirley Sue was born May 9 in the Anadarko hospital. Survivors include the parents, three brothers, Orville Choat, Indiana and Raymond and A. J. Jr., of the home and one sister, Mrs. Verna Mae Williams, Anadarko, route 1. Mrs. Choat was returned to her home from the hosptal Thursday. |
