© The Verden News Verden, Oklahoma June 6, 1930 October 1849 ~ June 2, 1930 The body of Eli M. Boan was sent here for burial Monday from the Masonic home at Gutherie where he passed away May 30th. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon with Rev. C. W. Taylor in charge of the funeral services. Mr. Boan was 80 years old, and a member of the Verden Masonic Order, of which Order held ritual services as the cemetery where interment was made. His wife and a lady friend accompanied the body here for burial. They formerly resided here and have a number of friends who extend sympathy to Mrs. Boan in her bereavement. |
© The Verden News Verden, Oklahoma July 29, 1932 July 30, 1857 ~ July 21, 1932 Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Boan was born in Eddyville, Iowa, July 30, 1857, being seventy-five years old the 30th of this month. She had lived in Iowa most of her life. Her former husband, Riley Acton, died 1 [3?] years ago, then she was married to Eli Boan and they moved to Wyoming. There they lived ten years, coming to Oklahoma to live in the Masonic Home at Guthrie. Eli preceded her in death two years ago. She has one brother living and five brothers and six sisters who are not living. The one remaining brother is Levi Zornes of Auria, Nebraska. She was converted and joined the Baptist church when sixteen years old and was a constant worker and teacher in the church and Sabbath school. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Hedrick and interment made in the Verden cemetery last Thursday. |
