Joseph L. Blanton
1859 ~ March 10, 1918

JOE BLANTON DEAD

Joe Blanton, a pioneer of Verden, died at a hospital in Chickasha about 2 o'clock Sunday morning. He was 59 years old and had lived in Verden for a number of years.

It was expected that interment would take place in Verden, but word was received from a sister requesting that the body be held until she arrived, and no doubt she had the body shipped to his old home for burial.

We were unable to learn particulars and our information is very meager. Joe had been failing in health for a long time and his death did not come unexpected. He became so poorly that he was taken to a hospital in Chickasha for treatment about a week ago, but steadily grew worse and he answered the summons early Sunday morning.

LATER: Interment took place in Verden cemetery Tuesday.

Funeral services were conducted at the grave by P. S. Lowe.
