Charles Lavern "Spec" Woody

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 17, 2015, at the Vimy Ridge Baptist Church in Rush Springs, with Rev. Bob Hines officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.

C.L. "Spec" Woody was born Friday, June 25, 1920 in Snider, to James Wesley and Minnie Sol [Boswell] Woody.

He grew up in Rush Springs and lived in the Grady County area most of his life.

He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving during World War II, receiving four bronze service stars.

After returning from the war, he married Dorothy Fern Davis, she preceded him in death in 2004.

On January 7, 2009, Spec married Violet Ophelia Hanna in El Reno.

He worked in the oil field for over 30 years, retiring in 1982 from Transworld Drilling.

Spec loved riding horses and was a member of the Rush Springs Riding Club. He participated in team penning, and enjoyed cutting horses and sorting cattle.

Spec was of the Methodist faith.

Spec was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Guy Woody; four sisters, Doris, Fairy, Bonnie, Betty.

Spec's riding buddies will serve as pallbearers.

Dorothy Fern Woody

Dorothy Fern Woody, 78, of Rush Springs died Sunday, May 23, 2004, in Rush Springs.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs with the Rev. Elmer Whitehead officiating.

Burial will be in Rush Springs Cemetery.

Bobby Gerald Woody

Rush Springs: Bobby Gerald Woody, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019 in Duncan, at the age of 82.

Graveside Services at the Rush Springs Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Stephens County Honor Guard. All arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.

Bobby was born Thursday, December 31, 1936 in Rush Springs, to James W. and Minnie [Saul] Woody.

He attended Rush Springs High School and lived in the Rush Springs area all of his life.

Bobby married the love of his life Virginia McClure in Chickasha on June 22, 1962, they had 56 wonderful years before his passing.

Bobby served in the United States Army.

Survivors include, his wife, Virginia Woody of the home, 2 sons, Kevin Woody and wife Tersea of Newcastle, Bobby Woody of Rush Springs, 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Woody, Matthew Woody, Kevin Mitchell Woody, 7 great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Woody, Tyson Woody, Deazil Woody, Blakelyn Woody, Jaxxon Harrison, Julian Woody, Rylea Horton. He is also survived by a sister, Peggy Harrelson of Boswell.
