Wigham Rush Pioneer's Services Held Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at 4:30 at the Missionary baptist Church for John Wigham, pioneer of Rush Springs who passed away early Thursday morning at his home here. Rev. Haley of Chickasha read the Scripture and made a talk. Rev. Tabb, pastor, had charge of the services. Songs used by the choir were "Abide With Me" and "In the Land Where We Never Grow Old." Mrs. Raymond Gibbs sang "Face to Face." Pallbearers were Ernest Crittendon, Jack English, LaVoir Crittendon, Roy Mullican, Jack Hawpe and Louis Leverett. Honorary pallbearers were Bob McWhorter, John Coyle, Mr. Latham, Mr. Medelen, J. F. Norton and Ira Ashley. John Wigham was born March 9, 1857, in Boone County, Mo. As a boy of 13 he moved from Missouri to Austin, Texas. In 1879 he was united in marriage to Miss Annie Allen of San Marcus, Texas. To this union were born five children, all of whom survive. Mr. Wigham was preceded in death by his first wife in June, 1924. He was united in marriage in 1925 to Mrs. Donie Jackson who died in December, 1938. Mr. Wigham united with a Baptist Church in 1882. He had been a member of this church since moving to Rush Springs in 1901. Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. J. H. Grice of Hubbard, Texas and Mrs. J. C. King of Rush Springs; three sons, Joe and Jester, of Duncan, and Lewis of Rush Springs. |
