Claude "Doc" Underwoo

Funeral service for Claude "Doc" Underwood, 79, Rush Springs, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Calloway-Smith Funeral Home at Rush Springs with Rev. Leroy Phillips officiating. He died early Saturday at his home in Rush Springs.

He was born June 26, 1894, at Hennepin. He resided in Rush Springs for 69 years and was a retired rural mail carrier.

Underwood was married to Miss Iva E. Godwin on July 6, 1926, in Marlow. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Church of God.

Survivors include his wife Iva of Rush Springs; two sons, Claude Calvin Underwood of New York City, and Joe Daniel Underwood of Grand Prairie, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Guppy of Muskogee and two grandchildren.

Interment will be in Rush Springs cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Billy Crittendon, Stanley Smith, George Smith, Warren Morris, Bob Graves, and Lloyd Carter.
