August 12, 2012 Gracie Ann [Burris] Stewart Gracie Ann Harrelson Stewart, 87, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012 in Marlow. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Eastside Baptist Church in Marlow, with Rev. Gene Jorgenson and Rev. Toby Walker officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Marlow on Monday, August 6, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Gracie was born Saturday, February 7, 1925 in Arapaho, Oklahoma, to Joseph Andrew and Tena Joan [Gossmann] Burris. Gracie spent her early years in Arapaho, Clinton and Custer City. She graduated from Arapaho High School in 1943. In 1955, she settled in Rush Springs. Gracie married Orval Stewart on June 25, 1972 in Marlow. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1990. Gracie was a very independent woman. She always believed she could fix anything that needed to be fixed. Traveling, working in her yard and listening to country gospel music were a few things she enjoyed. Gracie loved her family, going to family reunions and most of all, took great joy in seeing all five generations of her family in church together. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Marlow. Gracie was also preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Wesley Kent Coast, granddaughter, Staci Harrelson, daughter-in-law, Linda Harrelson and grandson-in-law, Rusty Maddox. Pallbearers will be Brian Coast, Randy Coast, Clint Harrelson, Ricky Harrelson, Rocky Harrelson, and Oscar Wynn. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Lindsay, Roy Crow, Roy Lynn Crow, Jack Lawrence. Memorial contributions may be made to Eastside Baptist Church Building Fund or Chisholm Trail Hospice. June 2016 Nelda Jean [Tuck] Stewart Nelda Jean Stewart passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at her home in Rush Springs. She was 76. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Rush Springs Church of Christ with officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services. Nelda was born Saturday, September 9, 1939 in Rush Springs to Graham Haskell and Vera Edna [Travis] Tuck. She attended and graduated from Rush Springs High School. On November 9, 1957 Nelda married her sweetheart, Jerry Dewayne Stewart in Rush Springs, he preceded her in death on September 15, 2012. Early in their marriage they lived in Kansas and then Mineral Wells, Texas, but they found their way back to Rush Springs, where they called home. Nelda worked for HI-VI Dog Food for 15 years, doing clerical work and she retired from ASCOG in 1998. She was very community minded, being active in many roles; she served on the City Council as Mayor and as a board member for 7 years. She was a member of the Monarch Study Club and was honored as Woman of the Year in 2008. Nelda was the first manager of the Rush Springs swimming pool, where she gave hundreds of children and adults lessons. She loved to make ceramics, macramé, decorating cakes and she especially loved her oil paintings. When her children were young, Nelda served as leader for both the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She enjoyed going to watch her children and her grandchildren's ballgames. Nelda was a very special lady and will be missed greatly and remembered fondly by all who knew her. She a member of the Rush Springs Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Glenn Stewart, a sister, Loy Christopherson, a brother, Tim Tuck and a nephew, Todd Christopherson. Pallbearers will be: Darren Alaniz, Josh Peaslee, Shawn Alaniz, Greg Huntington, Kevin Stewart and Chad Gilbert. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Clarence Ballard, Tommy Jordan, Alton Crabb, Mike Brady and Brad Brady. The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to: The American Cancer Society or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. |
