Elda Amelia [Schiemann] Manis

Elda Amelia Manis was born August 11, 1913, to Emil R. and Lillian M. Schiemann in Rush Springs, Oklahoma.

Elda died November 21, 2003.

Following graduation from Rush Springs High School she attended Oklahoma College for Women where she graduated with a degree in music.

She was married to R.V. Manis, Jr. from 1934 to 1945.

During World War II she was employed as a Storekeeper with the Army Air Force at Goodfellow Field in San Angelo, Texas.

Following the war she moved to Oklahoma City and was employed by Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company where she worked for more than 30 years prior to her retirement in 1978.

She was a long time member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and active in the Chappell Sunday School Class. Other memberships included Women's Committee of the Oklahoma Symphony Orchestra, National Secretaries' Association [now International Association of Administrative Professionals], and Civic Music Association.

Following her retirement, she continued to participate and enjoy the activities of both the OG&E Pioneer Club and the OG&E Trailblazers.

She is survived by several cousins and many loving and devoted friends.

Services will be held at St. Luke's United Methodist Church at 10:00 am., Wednesday, November 26, 2003. A graveside service will be held that same day at 1:30 p.m. at Rush Springs Cemetery, Rush Springs, Oklahoma.

Elda's family and friends are most grateful for the wonderful, loving care she received from the compassionate caregivers in the Susanna Wesley nursing unit at Epworth Villa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Epworth Villa, Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Parkinson's research, or Mission Hospice.
