January 4, 1933 ~ June 5, 2008


Ardmore, Okla. - Former Duncan, Okla., resident FRANKLIN D. SAMPLEY, 75, of Ardmore, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, in Ardmore Veterans Center.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Bethesda Church of God in Duncan, with the Rev. Harold Metheny officiating, assisted by Dwain Jackson.

Burial will be in Rush Springs Cemetery under direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Franklin was born Jan. 4, 1933, in Rush Springs, to Willie and Bonnie Evans Sampley.

He was a member of AMVETS.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of the home; three sons, Franklin D. Sampley Jr. of California, Rodney E. Sampley of Tennessee, and John Sampley of Duncan; a stepson, Rick Richard of Baltimore, Md.; two daughters, Mary Poteet and Bonnie Jackson, both of Tennessee; a stepdaughter, Phyllus Bucklew of Indiana; six brothers, Rick Sampley of Duncan, Derral Sampley and Bob Sampley of Rush Springs, Ray Sampley of Lawton, Roy Sampley of Blanchard, and Billy Sampley of Tennessee; two sisters, Sylvia Willoughby of Blanchard, and Ethyl Williams of Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hershal in 2008, and Vick Sampley; and two grandchildren, Julie Sampley and Stephen Scheetz. Bearers will be Vick Sampley Jr., Rick Sampley Jr., Chris Sampley, Gary Williams, Jerry Williams, Timothy Jackson Jr., Darrell Sampley and David Sampley.

Honorary bearers are Mike Sampley and Randall Williams.

Hershel E. Sampley of Warr Acres, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, in Mercy Hospital, Oklahoma City.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel in Duncan.

Burial will be in Rush Springs Cemetery.

Hershel was born June 3, 1946, in Rush Springs, to Willie and Bonnie Evans Sampley.

He married Christine Harris on July 5, 1969, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include his wife, Christine of the home; a son, Michael Sampley of Clinton; a daughter, Kelly Baker of Warr Acres; seven brothers, Bob Sampley of Rush Springs, Frank Sampley of Ardmore, Ray Sampley of Lawton, Roy Sampley of Blanchard, Billy Sampley of Tennessee, and Ricky Sampley and Darrell Sampley, both of Duncan; two sisters, Silvia Willoughby of Blanchard, and Ethel Williamson of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Vicky. Bearers will be Jerry Williams, Gary Williams, Vic Sampley, Chris Sampley, Dennis Willoughby and Billy Sampley.

Honorary bearers are Randall Williams and Michael Robert Sampley.

Christine Julia [Harris] Sampley
June 14, 1944 ~ June 3, 2010


Christine Julia Sampley, 65 of Comanche, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Wilkins Nursing Home in Duncan.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lonnie Burns officiating, interment will be at the Rush Spring Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Christine was born June 14, 1944 in Comanche, to Loyd Albert & Viola Fern "Williams" Harris.

Christine had been Manager at K Mart in Arizona before moving back to Warr Acres, and lived there until Hershel's death and she moved to Clinton with her son Michael, she moved back to Comanche about two months ago, she was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.

Christine married Hershel Sampley July 5, 1969 in Wichita Falls, Texas and he preceded her in death April 13, 2008.

Survivors include a son; Michael Sampley and his wife Teresa of Comanche, a daughter; Kelly Baker and her husband Jerry of Duncan, two brothers; Eddie Loyd Harris and Lyndel Thomas Harris both of Oklahoma City, a sister; Jackie Carol Callicott of Hannibal, Missouri, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Derrall Sampley, Colt Sampley, Vick Sampley, Chris Sampley, Shane Harris and Chris Bentley.
