Tom Pound and Lon O'Niel had been drinking during the night and finally got into an argument over some hogs. Tom, who thought he had been insulted, went to his home, secured his gun and returned to O'Niel's. Mrs. Pound accompanied her husband and shortly after they had entered the O'Niel house the latter, who was outside and badly frightened, blazed away with a shotgun at Pound through the window, killing him almost instantly. Mr. O'Niel promptly gave himself up to the officers and demanded an immediate hearing, which was given him. He was released on $600 bond to await the action of the grand jury." © Alex Tribune Alex, Oklahoma Friday, October 9, 1908 Tom Pound "Laid at Rest at Rush Springs - The funeral of Mr. Pound was held from the family home on Saturday afternoon, and was largely attended.
