January 2016 Doyle Arthur Pendley Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 21, 2016, at the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs, with Rev. David Hale officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs. Doyle was born Monday, October 27, 1930 in Rush Springs, to James M. "Bud" Jr. and Vivian [Tunnel] Pendley. He graduated from Rush Springs High School with the class of 1949. He later married Dorothy Warehime on June 2, 1951. He owned and operated the Auto Parts Store in Rush Springs for 17 years, then worked as a field supervisor for Grady County until he was appointed County Commissioner for Grady County District 3 where he worked for 11 years. He retired in 1994 with 19 years service to the citizens of Grady County. Doyle was an active Deacon for 33 years at Southern Baptist Church. He was a member of the Rush Springs Lions Club. Doyle was a good golfer, but loved to do things in his shop, especially building birdhouses. Doyle was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Leatrice Sluder and Aleta Anderson. |
