Morris Allen Nichols Jr

Morris Allen Nichols, 91, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2013 in Duncan.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 30, 2013, at the Vimy Ridge Baptist Church, with David Hale officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.

Morris was born Friday, March 3, 1922 in Lookeba, to Morris and Minnie Jane [Armstrong] Nichols.

He lived in the Rush Springs area most of his life and graduated from Rush Springs High School in 1942. Morris later served in the United States Navy. On October 10, 1948, Morris married Maxine Duncan in Grady County. He worked as a supply clerk for the civil service at Ft. Sill for over 30 years. Morris loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing dominos, reading, and gardening. Morris was an avid Rush Springs Redskin fan and went to as many football games as possible. He was a member of the Redskin Booster Club and the First United Methodist Church in Rush Springs.

Survivors include, wife, Maxine Nichols of Rush Springs, three sons, Jimmy Nichols and wife Rosemary of Velma, Rodney Nichols of Altus, Gary Nichols and wife Pam of Ratliff City, daughter, Linda Long and husband Butch of Tishomingo, 11 grandchildren, Trevor, Ryan, Casey, Jill Wilson, Candice Waxell, Gary Don, Garrett, Carol Ables, Lisa Hunt, Robert McAfee, Kyle Becker, 17 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

╨Morris was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Janet Hampton, grandson, Jason Nichols, granddaughter, Leslie Nichols, three brothers, Orville, Cecil, and Zac Nichols, four sisters, Adie Mae Githens, Beatrice Stephens, Opal Nichols, Mary Nichols, daughter-in-law, Sandy Nichols.

╨Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the crew members of the USS Kadashan Bay.

Maxine Nora [Duncan] Nichols

Maxine Dora Nichols passed away Monday, December 5, 2016 at her home in Rush Springs with her children by her side. She was 87.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2016, at the Vimy Ridge Baptist Church, with Pastor David Hale officiating.

Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow. Maxine was born Thursday, August 29, 1929 in Covington Oklahoma, to Ora Wayne and Bernice Edna [Koch] Duncan.

She attended school at Rush Springs and lived in the Rush Springs area her entire life.

She married her true love, Morris A. Nichols on October 10, 1947 in Rush Springs. He preceded her in death on December 25, 2013.

Maxine made her life'swork taking care of her husband and her family. She worked on the farm beside her husband, it was their way of life. Maxine enjoyed being involved with the Helper's Home Demonstration Club and she was known for her beautiful crocheting and her macramé. She was a jewel to her family and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Maxine loved her children, her grandchildren and all the great-grandchildren with a love that will carry on in all their hearts and memories. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rush Springs.

Pallbearers will be Robert McAfee, Kyle Becker, Trevor Nichols, Gary Nichols, Ryan Nichols and Casey Nichols and honorary pallbearer, Garrett Nichols.
