Lucious Walter Long Jr

Funeral Services for Lucius Long Were Held on Saturday

Funeral services for Lucius W. Long, 69, were held Saturday, July 31, at 2 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church in Rush Springs. Raymond Murray and Rev. Harwood Rowe, pastor of the church, officiated.

Long was born May 22, 1902 in Rush Springs, Indian Territory, and died Thursday, July 29th, at 12:10 p.m. in the Memoria Hospital, Lawton, following an illness of several months.

He married the former Vera Lilly on March 26, 1927 in Cache. She preceded him in death on June 15, 1965.

Long lived in Meers from 1919 to 1957 before returning to Rush Springs.

He was a rancher and was vice president of the First National Bank of Rush Springs for 19 years and a director of the bank for 38 years. He was a member of the Oklahoma Cattlemens Association, and a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He attended school in Rush Springs, graduating in 1921, and attended Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Burial was in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were R. O. Gibbs, Raymond Rust, Billy Joe Crittendon, Gib Tims, Tom Cotham and Glen Jones.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Bob Baumann of Meers; two grandchildren, Bill and Mary Ann Baumann of Meers; and one sister, Mrs. Marvin James of Rush Springs.

Carrie Lou [Reese] Long

Longtime Rush Springs resident, Carrie Lou Long, 91, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 in Marlow.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 27, 2015 in the Rush Springs Cemetery, with Rev. Richard McCormack officiating. Services will be under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.

Carrie was born Wednesday, October 24, 1923 in Rush Springs, to Lester Reese and Adeline [Lewis] Hildreth. Carrie was born and raised in Rush Springs and attended Elm Flatt School. She lived in California for ten years before returning to Rush Springs.

On July 8, 1992, she married Leo Edward Long in Wichita Falls, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 28, 2001.

Carrie loved crocheting and quilting with her sister. She also enjoyed being outdoors and fishing.

Carrie was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs.

Carrie was also preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, LaRita Fitzpatrick, Mary Gibson, three sisters, Dorothy Payne, Velma Beck, Leona Beck, four brothers, Howard Hildreth, Loyd Hildreth, Lester Hildreth, Marion Hildreth.

Mary Magdalene [Bratcher] Long

Mary Magdalene Long, 87, went to be with her Savior Saturday, February 11, 2017 in Duncan.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 16, 2017 at First Assembly of God in Rush Springs with Rev. Lonnie Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Mary was born Thursday, January 16, 1930 in Rush Springs to John Wesley and Mary Alice Bratcher . She attended Rush Springs High School where she graduated Valedictorian of her class.

She later married the love of her life, Marcelles Lee Long, May 27, 1951 in Rush Springs. The couple made their home in Rush Springs where they raised their family.

Mary proudly worked for Rush Springs Schools for over 20 years. She adored her work and the people there.

Her hobbies included reading, shopping and spending time with family. Most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was her source of hope and strength and she was looking forward to His return daily. Mary was a member of First Assembly of God in Rush Springs.

Mary was preceded in death by husband, Marcelles Lee Long, son, Reggie Dale Long, great grandchild, Bailey Cheyenne Long, her parents, brothers, Dewey Bratcher, Clarance Bratcher, A.A. "Hoot" Bratcher, Raymond Bratcher, Herman "Pat" Bratcher, Paul Bratcher, and Thomas Ray Bratcher; sisters, Daisy McGuire, Lillie McGuire, Lorene Blay, and Goldie Meadows.

Pallbearers will be: Shawn Haskins, David Meadows, James Flick, Rod Headley, Billy Pate and Leland Dalrymple. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Skyler Long, Ethan Long, Elijah Johnson, Easton Long and Kody McKay.

RUSH SPRINGS - Service for Betty Joan Long, 69, of Rush Springs, who died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000, in her home, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Assembly of God Church in Rush Springs with the Rev. Lonnie Harris and the Rev. Ron Smith officiating.
