July 1971 Elvin Leroy "Roy" Lindsey Funeral Services for Roy Lindsey, 79, Were Held July 31st Funeral services for Elvin Leroy "Roy" Lindsey, 79, were held Saturday, July 31, at 4 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Howard of Temple and Rev. Harwod Rowe, pastor, officiating. Lindsey, a retired farmer and rancher, was born Jan 3, 1892 in Fruithurst, Ala., and died July 29 at 7:12 p.m. in the Grady Memorial Hospital, Chickasha, following a two month illness. He move to Rush Springs in 1916. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Callaway-Smith Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Ray Smith, Woodrow Duke, Allan Winham, Art Harris, Lavern Summer and Billy Joe Crittendon. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Lindsey of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Waylon Reeves and Mrs. Leo Smith, both of Rush Springs; on brother Ewel Lindsey of Temple; three sisters, Mrs. Leslie Wampler of Norma, Mrs. Bill Markle of Tulsa, and Mrs. Arvel Jennings of Yuma, Ariz.; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. |

Lindsey SHOCK VICTIMS SERVICES TODAY Services were scheduled in Rush Springs this afternoon for two men killed in an oil field accident Sunday afternoon near Mountain View. Last rites for Vernon Lindsay, 33, were at 1:30 pm at the Methodist Church by Rev. W. T. Veatch, pastor. Burial was in Rush Springs Cemetery. Services for Burl Davis, 21, were at 3:30 pm at Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. J. B. Shinn, pastor , in charge. Burial was in Rush Springs Cemetery. Two other men, Marvin Moats, Hobart, and H. W. Sparks, Rush Springs, were injured, but are expected to recover. The four men were pulling a sucker rod from a water well, near an oil well. It fell across an REA line. According to information at Rush Springs, Lindsey and Davis absorbed most of the electrical shock before it reached Moats and Sparks, who were at the lower end of the rod. Moats revived and staggered to the highway to stop a motorist who went for help. Sparks was revived with artificial respiration and is expected to recover. He was taken to a Hobart hospital. The men were employed on the No. 1 Chappelear oil well being drilled three miles west of Mountain View. Lindsey is survived by his wife and three small children, who live in Rush Springs; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lindsey, south of Rush Springs, and two sisters, Dorothy, who lives in Texas, and Mrs. Wynona Smith of Rush Springs. Davis was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Osa Davis of Rush Springs. Both Lindsey and Davis were reared in Rush Springs and are graduate of the schools of that community. |
June 29, 2014 Patricia Ruth "Pat" [King] Lindsey Patricia Ruth Lindsey passed away at 85 years old. Pat was born to Merle and Rita King in Acme, Okla. She was raised in Rush Springs, Okla., and was a graduate of Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City, Okla. She married Robert Lindsey on February 4, 1950. Together, they raised 3 children - 1 son and 2 daughters - and were members of Southern Hills Baptist Church. Pat held several jobs including secretarial positions. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert Lindsey; her parents, Rita & Lee Motes and Merle King; and one sister, Ginny Molinar. Before her death, she was looking forward to being reunited with her loved ones. Pat is survived by her three children, Marla and Larry Smith of Oklahoma City, David and Barbie Lindsey of Guthrie and Terri and Jimmy Brown of Tuttle; five grandchildren, Shawn Pendley, Heather Pendley, April Short, Aimee Tindle and Angela Howell; nine great-grandchildren, Sam, Damon, Ben, Abby, Matthew, Nathan, Josiah, Hadassah and Peter; and two sisters, Merle Miller & Donna Moore, both of Oklahoma City. She will always be remembered for her smile, courage and love for her family and friends. She was loved and will always be missed by those who knew her. |
