Ethel Gladys Lewis

Graveside services were held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at the Rush Springs Cemetery in Rush Springs, OK for Ethel Gladys Lewis with Rev. Larry Hatfield officiating.

Ethel was born May 18, 1918 in Rush Springs, OK, the 7th child of Thomas Sanford and Nervie Belle Crow.

She was married to James J. "Buster" Lewis on Dec. 27, 1935 in Chickasha, OK. They made their home in California and were blessed with a family of 3 daughters and two sons. Buster preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 1991.

Ethel moved to Ashdown, Arkansas in 1995 where she lived at the time of her death on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the age of 89 years.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Michael Lewis in 1980; a daughter, Glynda Ruth Vessel, about 1998; and a granddaughter, Rachelle Vessel, in 1964.

Ethel is survived by a son, James Lyndon Lewis of Reedley, CA; two daughters: Nelda F. Davis & Sherri G. Davis, both of Ashdown, AR; one sister, Odell Brown of Bakersfield, CA; 10 grandchildren; Rhonda [Vessel] Burns, Ricky Vessel, Ranell [Vessel] Unknown, Jeffery Long, Jesse Kirkland, Bethel [Kirkland] Brooks, Crystal [Davis] Unknown, Jimmy Davis, John Davis and Christopher Davis.

Ethel is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Laverne Crow of Chickasha, OK; and many nieces and nephews.
