December 19, 2017 Weldon Kennedy June 6, 1933 ~ December 11, 2017 NINNEKAH Weldon Eugene Kennedy was born on June 6, 1933, in Mason, OK to Bleeker and Viola [Adams] Kennedy. He passed away on Dec. 11, 2017, at the age of 84. Weldon grew up in Okemah, OK, and at the age of 17, he joined the army and was proud of his military service during the Korean War serving with the U.S. 45th Infantry On Nov. 6, 1956, he married Beverly Kaylor and they made their home in Okemah, OK. Weldon worked in the oil and gas business all of his life for several companies such as Loffland Brothers and Mesa Petroleum, retiring in 1985. The family lived all over the southern United States, finally settling in Ninnekah in 1971. Weldon loved raising horses; later in life, he loved flea marketing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bleeker and Viola Kennedy; brother, Farrell Kennedy; and daughter, Jennie Kennedy. He is survived by his wife, Beverly, of the home; two sons, Weldon Kennedy Jr and wife Vivien, of Elk City; and William Kennedy and wife Tracy, of New Philadelphia, OH; and one sister, Penny Kennedy and Wayne, of Rush Springs. Graveside services will be held at Westview Cemetery in Rush Springs, OK at a later date. |
