September 1972 Cecil C. Jinks Funeral Services for Cecil Jinks Will be Held Here Friday Funeral services for C. C. Jinks, long-time Rush Springs resident and businessman, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs. Officiating will be Rev. Leroy Raley of Sulphur, Rev. Leon Sewell of Weatherford and Alvin McConnell of Rush Springs. Jinks, 66, was born April 15, 1906 in Jacksboro, Texas and was dead on arrival at Grady Memorial Hospital in Chickasha about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. He moved from Marlow to Rush Springs in 1928 and have lived here since that time. He operated a car agency for a number of years and was in the real estate business. His death was listed by doctors as the result of chest injuries received when his pickup crashed into a drive-way abutment. It was believed he blacked out while traveling north on Highway 81 in the south part of Rush Springs. He was married to Velan Harris July 5, 1927 in Chickasha. He was a veteran of World War II, member of the Masonic Lodge, Shrine, Lions club, VFW, American Legion and Southern Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be nephews Lynn Harris Jr., Mike Harris, Clyde Ray Harris, Leroy Harris, Joe D. Jinks and Gary Jinks. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under direction of Callaway-Smith Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Velan, of the home; one son, Robert Lee of San Juan, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Bob Roden of Claremore; 5 brothers, O. H. of Marlow, Woodrow of Downey, Calif., John and Joe of Arlington, Texas, and H. T. of Oklahoma City; a half-brother, T. R. of Pampa; two half-sisterd, Mrs. Carrie House of Austin, Texas and Mrs. Katie McCowen of Davis, Calif.; and five grandchildren. |
