© Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home Rush Springs, Oklahoma November 9, 2012 James Carroll Heilman James Carroll Heilman, 87, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012, at his home in Rush Springs. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, November 12, 2012, at the Rush Springs Church of Christ, with Dewayne Bryant officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs. James was born Saturday, May 23, 1925 in Rush Springs to William Marvin and Vera Amy [Foster] Heilman. James grew up in the Rush Springs area. He attended school in Sperling and later graduated high school from Rush Springs. He served in the U. S. Air Force during WWII. James then attended Oklahoma State University, formerly Oklahoma A&M, and received his BA in education in 1949. On March 26, 1948, James married Betty Mae Harrison in Stillwater. James taught Vo-Ag in Terral for 20 years and in Rush Springs for 17 years. He loved being involved with FFA; it was an important part of his life. James enjoyed reading, fishing, playing dominoes and wahoo. He loved when all the family was together. Everyone enjoyed birthdays when he led them all in the Happy Birthday song. James was a member of the Lions Club, VFW, Vo-Ag Retired Teachers, the Red, Red Rose, and the Church of Christ in Rush Springs. Survivors include, wife, Betty Mae [Harrison] Heilman of the home; son, Allen Heilman of Stillwater; daughters, Klayn Hitt and husband Max, Beverly Havins and husband Terry, Beth Fitzpatrick and husband Rick, all of Rush Springs; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Perry A. Heilman of Phoenix, Arizona and Marvin D. Heilman and wife Karen of Weslaco, Texas; sister, Doris M. Smith of Templeton, California; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. James was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary F. Heilman, brother, Scotty L. Heilman. Pallbearers will be A.J. Heilman, Brandon McClure, Blake McClure, Greg McClure, Jeremy Beard, Jeff Jaronek and Justin Harper. |
