Johnny Marcus Heard

RUSH SPRINGS - Johnny Marcus Heard, 72, of Rush Springs died Saturday, March 15, 2003, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Don Chaffin officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery.

Johnny was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Rush Springs to John W. and Velma McDaniel Heard. He married Janiece Burton on Feb. 7, 1955, in Odessa, Texas.



He lived in the Rush Springs are most of his life and graduated from Rush Spring High School in 1949. He retired in 1996 as an electrician for the Merrick Co. He was formerly employed with Navajo Drilling for 10 years as a tool pusher.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and ranching.

Survivors include his wife, Janiece, of the home; a son, Ricky John Heard of Duncan; two daughters, Sharri Riddles and her husband, Rickey and Jill Dawn Lyon and her husband, Ron, all of Rush Springs, six grandchildren, Amanda Riddles, Chelsey Riddles, Amber Heard, Timothy Heard, Taylor Lyon and Taylor Lyon; his mother-in-law, Mildred Burton of Rush Springs; and four sisters, Billie Kempf of Mount Sterling, Ill., Dorothy Rachal of Louisiana, and Patsy Davis and Shirley Decker, both of Marlow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Earl Heard; three sisters, Virginia Brumback, Opal Hodge and Goldie French.

Bearers will be Duane Hayes, Rick Adamson, Jim Denham, Jack Stringfellow, John Dorman and Jimmy Williams.

Honorary bearers are J.D. Woods and Garner. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Rush Springs schools.

Janiece Wilma [Burton] Heard

Janiece Wilma Heard, 71, Rush Springs, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2007 in Norman.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs, with Rev. Lynn Burton & David Hale officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.

Janiece was born Wednesday, July 3, 1935 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, to V.J. and Mildred [Davidson] Burton. She graduated from Rush Springs High School. She lived in the Rush Springs area all of her life. Janiece married Johnny Heard in Feb. of 1955 in Odessa, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2003. She retired as a secretary from the First National Bank after 33 years. She worked in the public and helped people in her community. Janiece loved to read and watch TV. She also loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a member of the harmony sunday school class and the Southern Baptist Church.

Survivors include, Son, Ricky John Heard & wife Melody of Duncan, OK; two Daughters, Sharri Riddles & husband Ricky of Rush Springs, OK; Jill Lyon & husband Ron of Rush Springs, OK; seven Grandchildren, Amanda Foat & husband Todd of Chickasha, OK; Chelsey Poudrier & husband Jason of Lawton, OK; Amber Heard of Duncan, OK; Timothy Heard of Marlow, OK; Matt Hemmingway of Duncan, OK; Taylor Lyon of Rush Springs, OK; Logan Lyon of Rush Springs, OK; Mother, Mildred Burton of Rush Springs, OK; two Brothers, Ronnie Burton & wife Pam of Marlow, OK; Lynn Burton & wife Connie of Richmond, VA; Sister, Ann Hankins & husband Leroy of Chickasha, OK; Host of Nieces & Nephews, Several Cousins, Aunts and Uncles, A whole town of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her father.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Williams, Ronnie Kessler, Rick Adamson, Dow Meek, Don Hayes and Richard Krey.
