Pvt. Co. F, 12th Texas Infantry

George Washington Dykes. S/O Lovick Pinkham and Rhoda V. [Maddox] Dykes born Nov 1833 [per 1900 census] in Nacogdoches, Texas.

He first married Amanda Unknown, they had six children: James H., Eliza J., Rhoda M., Mary, George U., and Sarah A. Dykes.

He next married Mary Jane Hurt/Shotts [widow of Daniel Francis Shotts] in Milam Co., Texas. George W. and Mary J. had two sons: Richard Marshall and Ira Benjamin Dykes.

Mary Jane [Hurt] Shotts Dykes

D/O George Washington and Sarah Ann [Brewer] Hurt, born in Clarke Co., Mississippi.

She first married to Daniel Francis Shotts 14 Dec 1865 in Clarke Co., Mississippi. Three Shotts children: William Francis, Sarah Ann, and George Nathaniel "Jud" Shotts.

Secondly, she married George Washington "Glow" Dykes 23 Jan 1879 in Milam Co., Texas. Two Dykes children: Richard Marshall and Ira Benjamin.
