April2012 Willie Mae [Cobb] Douthit Willie Mae Douthit, 94, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in Marlow. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 13, 2012, at the First Assembly of God in Rush Springs, with Randall Harris, Rev. Eugene Howeth, and Rev. Charles Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs. Willie Mae was born Saturday, August 18, 1917 in Cement, OK, to William and Viola [Long] Cobb. Willie Mae lived in the Rush Springs area most of her life and attended Rocky Ford School. She married W. R. Douthit in 1948 in Texas. He preceded her in death on January 21, 1966. Willie Mae loved her work at Gregston Nursing Home where she was a nurse's aide for 15 years. She later worked in the home healthcare profession. Willie Mae enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning and also loved embroidery and quilting. Willie Mae was a member of the First Assembly of God in Rush Springs. Survivors include, three daughters, Cleta Harris and husband Randall of Rush Springs, Marilyn Howeth and husband Rev. Eugene Howeth of Chickasha, Barbra Parker and husband Rev. Charles Parker of Stratford; 13 grandchildren, Hershel Claborn, Larry Harris, Teresa Ford, Anita Curry, Rhonda Barnett, Brenda Rice, Trenda Phelps, Paul Parker, Deloris Potts, Tessa Soto, Nick Douthit, Harley Douthit and James Douthit; 18 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren. Willie Mae was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Billy Douthit, grandson, Jessie Harris, great-granddaughter, Bridget Rice, a brother and three sisters. |
February 2012 Melvin Lee Douthit Rush Springs: Melvin Lee Douthit, 69, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 in Houston, Texas. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 18, 2012, at the Rush Springs First Assembly of God, with Rev. Eugene Howeth officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs. Family and friends visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00, Friday evening at the Funeral Home Chapel in Rush Springs. Melvin was born Friday, November 27, 1942 in Rocky Ford, OK, to Jack Douthit and Letha [Cobb] Douthit. Melvin lived in the Rush Springs area most of his life and attended Rocky Ford and Rush Springs Schools. He joined the US Air Force and served in Vietnam. Melvin retired from the US Air Force after 20 years of service. He served ten years as an air craft mechanic and the last ten years as a recruiter. He owned and operated Mel's Auto Supply in Rush Springs for 23 years. He married Jeanie Yates in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1969. Melvin was a member of the Rush Springs Lion's Club. He loved spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandchildren. He enjoyed tinkering with his cars, driving his tractor and golfcart and spending time on his houseboat. Survivors include, wife, Jeanie Douthit of the home, son, Blu Douthit and wife Nikol of Marlow, two daughters, Patricia Rowland and husband Larry of Soddy Daisy, TN, and Cheryl Orr and husband Vinson of Frederick, OK, six grandchildren, Sam and Laura Rowland, Brooke and Paige Orr, Brayden and Baylee Douthit, brother, Lester Brooks, sister, Lorene Alaniz and husband Al of Marlow, several nieces and nephews. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack Douthit, Jr. and Paul Douthit, sister, Corene [Scott] Swanson. Pallbearers will be Blu Douthit, Patricia Rowland, Larry Rowland, Vinson Orr, Sam Rowland, Brayden Douthit and Donnie Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Yates and Wayne Yates. |
