May 2012 Billy Joe "BJ" Crittendon Chickasha: Billy Joe 'B.J.' Crittendon, 85, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in Oklahoma City. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 14, 2012, at the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs, with Don Crittendon officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs. B.J. was born Wednesday, October 27, 1926 in Rush Springs, to Lavoise and Etta Ruth [Penn] Crittendon. B.J. lived in the Rush Springs area most of his life and in Chickasha for the past six years. He attended high school in Rush Springs and later joined the Merchant Marines during WWII. B.J. married Lois Jones on May 1, 1945 at the Methodist Church parsonage in Rush Springs. He worked as a loan officer at Farmers and Merchants Bank in Rush Springs and later was promoted to senior vice-president until his retirement in 1986. He returned to the bank a year later to work part time as a loan officer. B.J. wanted to be a part of the effort to stabilize the bank and worked to help it grow. After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his sister and brother-in-law, Joe and Joan Ross. B.J. loved outdoor activities including, gardening, fishing, hunting, golf, baseball and football. B.J. was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs. Survivors include, wife, Lois Crittendon of the home; two daughters, Regina Lane and husband Lee of Mannford, OK and Bettenia Baker and husband Dale of Ninnekah, OK; four grandchildren, Kimberly Smith, Carisa Sitton, Bobbi Brown and Kristi Nesvold; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. B.J. was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lavoise Crittendon, Jr. and sister, Mary Kay Clubb. Pallbearers will be: Bon Dale Lentz, Raymond Rust, Conn Goodwin, Ron Parrish, Joe Tunnel, Jack Porter. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dale Jones, Carol Helman, Mac Vincent, Don Miluer, Dow Meek and Mike Carter. |
June 2017 Lois Darlene [Jones] Crittendon Lois Darlene Crittendon, 90, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017 in Marlow. Lois was born Sunday, January 10, 1927 in Rush Springs to Ulman Stephen and Bertha Adelma [Henderson] Jones. She grew up in the area and graduated from Rush Springs High School. She married the love of her life, Billy Joe Crittendon, on May 1, 1945 at the Methodist Parsonage in Rush Springs. The couple raised two children together. Lois dedicated her life to her family and home. Her interests included sewing, cooking, fishing, and eating homemade ice cream, as well as gardening things such as African violets, roses and vegetables. She enjoyed canning and freezing her produce. Some of her fond memories include watching the birds at the feeders, especially humming birds. She had a special relationship with her sister and brother in law and they enjoyed vacationing together in Bull Shoals and Branson. Lois and Bill enjoyed RVing for many years. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs. Survivors include, daughter, Tina Baker and husband Dale of Ninnekah; daughter, Regina Lane and husband Lee of Mannford; six grandchildren, Bobbi Alberti and Kristi Nesvold; Kimberly Smith and Carisa Sitton; and Carissa Smith and Darrell Baker; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is also survived by brother, Jed Jones of Chickasha; many loved nieces and nephews as well as many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, James Jones; sister, Joan Ross; great grandsons, Tyler Dayton and Hunter Nesvold; nephew, Gary Ross; and niece, Laura Ross. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Southern Baptist Church, with Rev. Paul Phipps officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery. |
