July 1934 John C. Cox John C. Cox was married to Martha Ann Hogg [1856-1908]. Together they had 11 children. Martha died in the 1908 flood in Folsom, New Mexico with 3 of her daughters, 2 son in laws and 3 grand children. She and her daughter Theela were brought back to Rush Springs to be buried. The other family members are buried in Folsom, New Mexico. John was the son of Thomas Cox [1805-?] and Nancy Ann Johnson. On July 13, 1934, at the age of 85, John C. Cox died. His body was carried from Sterling back down the road to Rush Springs where he was buried beside his wife. His survivors include Alice Jackson of Lawton, Maggie Cox of Sterling, Mattie Cash of Duncan and Della Kernodle of Fletcher. |

Rev. Elmer Whitehead will officiate. Opal May Cox was born Aug. 6, 1912, in Tupelo, Miss., and died on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001. Services are under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel, Rush Springs. |
